New Suzuki range from Öhlins

Öhlins launches a complete range of upgraded suspension for the new 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 and R750.

Öhlins Racing has completed final testing and is now ready to launch a complete range of suspension upgrade kits for the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600, further enhancing the sporting potential of this already extremely impressive supersport 600 machine.

The brand new GSX-R600 has been designed to be the ultimate supersport machine with Suzuki concentrating its development focus on the chassis. Having spent a number of years out of the supersport race scene, Suzuki are confident the new GSX-R600 will be back at the sharp end of the grid and Öhlins has developed a suspension package that will allow it to get there.

Despite the GSX-R600 being equipped with Big Piston Forks (BPF), Öhlins recommends fitting its NIX30 fork kit or pressurised system due to its enhanced performance and ease of use. Time is critical in racing and having suspension that is both rapid and simple to adjust is essential. Öhlins’ fork kits allow extremely fast changes of springs as well as incredibly accurate damping due to the simplistic yet clever design of locating the compression damping on the left fork leg and rebound damping on the right leg. This also has the added advantage of only having one piston to re-shim should that be required, again speeding up the process of suspension fine tuning. On track the Öhlins fork kits provide superb brake support due to their increased compression damping while still being able to run a lower level of fork oil for more linear feel through the fork’s stroke giving the rider improved confidence. Quality and performance are still implicit in these technologically advanced Öhlins components which targets race teams operating within tight rules governing non-standard parts, as well as track and road riders wanting more from their original equipment forks.

To go with the fork kits, Öhlins recommends the use of its TTX36 shock absorber, again designed specifically for use in the GSX-R600 and 750. Based on technology gained through Öhlins’ racing efforts in MotoGP and World Superbike, the TTX36 uses Öhlins’ Twin Tube technology for accurate damping and improved feedback through the creation of positive pressure on both the compression and rebound stroke of the shock. Featuring adjustments for compression and rebound damping as well as spring preload, the TTX36 shock has established itself as the world’s premium shock absorber through unrivalled race success.

Due to the similarities in suspension between the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 the Öhlins suspension is interchangeable between the two models.

Chris Witter, Business Development Manager, Öhlins Racing UK commented, “There’s a common perception that bigger must be better when it comes to BPF’s, but what really matters is optimisation and I’m confident that if riders try our kit on the GSX-R they will be left in no doubt as to which offers not only the best performance, but also the simplest use. Racing is all about getting every last drop of performance out of both a rider and his machine and when fractions of a second count, our products prevail.”
