Öhlins Racing announces the launch of ‘PERFORMANCE’, a new, free, online magazine and offers subscribers the chance to go behind the scenes at a MotoGP race.
PERFORMANCE goes live today at www.ohlinsnews.com aimed at a global audience across both motorcycles and cars.
With features from the Swedish factory, 2 and 4 wheel racing, road bikes and cars, custom specials and intriguing human interest stories, the new magazine looks to showcase the diverse world of this legendary suspension brand.
Subscribers to the high- quality publication will be entered into a draw to visit a MotoGP race in 2012 or 2013 (dependent on their closest event) with full hospitality and to see the famous Öhlins technicians in action on the World’s most exotic machinery.
Created by UK motorsport agency Holeshot PR, the project has been a year in planning with contributors from across the world giving a wide ranging selection of stories, including the awesome new Lamborghini Adventador, the 100mph Iron Dog snowmobile race in Alaska, the history of the vibrant British Superbike Championship, a €110,000 Harley-Davidson, victory at Le Mans and the company’s Rallying heritage with Prodrive. With staff based in Sweden and around the World’s race track’s, it was also decided to feature an employee, so the first edition focuses on Thorleif Hansen; a 63 year old veteran of the company, who very nearly won the World 250 MX series and still tests Motocross bikes to this day. An inspirational character indeed.
Öhlins Marketing Communication Manager Ola Lennström explains the thinking behind the magazine;
“We’re really excited to be launching PERFORMANCE, everyone thinks of our racing success but there is so much more to explain about the Öhlins ‘story’. We have very high-end technical products but the interesting part is their inspiration, the guys that built them and crucially; what they get used for; on circuit, road, dirt and snow. We will also be looking to feature more Readers bikes and cars in future editions and our big prize for this first magazine is a special trip to a MotoGP event to really see the paddock through the eyes of our travelling technicians.
”Maybe the hardest decision has been working out the content for the first edition, once we started thinking we realised we have so many great stories to tell….”
