The 2015 Öhlins Racing Off Road range offers more options for more machinery than ever before, with new or revised suspension covering 50cc mini motocross to Open class and Enduro machines.

Riders in the mini MX classes can now benefit form the ‘Öhlins advantage’ from a young age. The TTX30 rear shock offers ‘big bike’ Twin Tube Crossflow (TTX) technology for the competitive 50/65cc classes. The TTX30 has been designed to soak up the bumps and jumps, giving riders a consistent, smooth ride to minimise fatigue from holeshot to the chequered flag.
TTX shocks are renowned for their fast, efficient flow rate as oil passes through the valves on the compression adjusters at the top of the shock and guarantee no cavitation due to their design. Compression and rebound damping is adjusted separately and different spring rates are available on these maintainable shocks.
For the next class up, the two 85cc variants (SW and LW) now have a fully revised shock; the STX 46. Featuring a new two way compression adjuster (similar to the Öhlins TTX shocks for the larger bikes) riders can now fine tune a wide range of low speed compression adjustment with 3 clicks of high speed compression adjustment, rebound adjustment and spring pre-load adjustment. The characteristics of the PDS – Progressive Damping System – has been overhauled to control the forces the shock absorber is subject to. A wide range of springs are available to choose from.
85cc riders can also benefit from the STX85 cartridge kit based on the TTX22 for adult MX machines.
This spring pressurized system can compensate for heat changes and provide reliable damping through every stroke, even in the harshest conditions. The kit has been designed to rise very low above the fork leg tops, allowing the forks to be mounted far up in the triple clamps for lower bikes for the smaller riders in the class. Click adjusters and air breather are easily reachable as they are angled out from underneath the handlebar.

125cc and above MX bikes have a full range of front and rear suspension options available, many of them recently heavily revised. Alongside the TTX22 cartridge kits, some riders prefer the ‘full’ RXF Racing front fork, developed in the white hot arena of MXGP and Supercross competition. This 48mm fork looks the part with gold anodized outer tubes and titanium oxide treated inner tubes. Fine tuned for the perfect balance of rigidity for big impacts and having enough ‘feel’ to remain plush and smooth. With internal springs a new addition for 2014, 2015 developments include new seals to reduce ‘fading’ top-out noise is minimized due to the introduction of a top out spring and rubber. A new check-valve unit helps the fork to stay up in stroke without feeling too hard, which also improves the overall performance of the front fork.

At the rear, the state of the art TTX44 has been further refined for 2015 with a new rebound adjuster design for better precision and more rigid feeling. This shock offers the latest Twin Tube design with zero cavitation risk and precision multi-adjustments in the way of a rigid, fine precision rebound adjuster, three level high speed compression adjuster and highly effective low speed compression adjuster.
A new Enduro range of single tube shocks keep on performing even after sustained abuse out on the trails and special tests, giving durability and consistent performance hour after hour.
This entire range of suspension kit for adult and mini MX machines including shocks, forks, cartridge kits and steering dampers have been designed to cope with the most varied terrain of any motorsport. The Öhlins Off Road range have been tested in deep sand, mud, whoops, big air and hard pack to ensure they offer the best performance and durability in all conditions.
Robert Brinkmark, Öhlins Product Manager Motorcycles commented;
“The new TTX shock for 50 and 65cc models complements our comprehensive Off Road range, giving riders the opportunity to benefit from the Öhlins advantage from an early age. A number of other key products have also been revised for 2015, keeping our range fresh and cutting edge on this ever developing sport. In Enduro we offer a shock that has been designed to perform consistently and with enhanced durability, ideal for riders who need comfort and performance in this fatigue inducing sport.”
