With yet another MotoGP title for its Hall of Fame, Öhlins Racing has widened the range of applications available for the race developed TTX GP shock absorber. Machines covered include the latest Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, Triumph and Japanese machinery (full application list at the end of this communication.)
The TTX GP features a number of considerable developments over its predecessor, the TTX36. The result is an even wider range of compression and rebound damping adjustment, with additional improvements to both precision and consistency of performance. The changes also ensure even smaller variations in behaviour between individual shock units, further enhancing the unmatched reputation for quality that Öhlins has earned in nearly forty years as the number one name in motorcycle suspension.
The ‘GP’ element of the new shock absorber’s name is no idle boast, its improvements having descended directly from lessons learned and proven in fierce competition at the highest level of Grand Prix racing. Öhlins has continued to dominate the MotoGP World Championship in 2014, its instantly recognisable products adorning every machine to have achieved a podium-position finish and victory in the premier class this year.
Upgraded components in the TTX GP include a new damping adjustment needle, with improved guidance and modified flow restriction behaviour providing much improved chassis feedback. The shock’s main piston is also new, giving the rider better traction as well as more control over their machine.
The TTX GP continues to use Öhlins’ proven twin tube design, which allows the shock to use lower gas pressures and eliminate the risk of oil foaming, or cavitation, which can otherwise reduce damping performance. As before, both ride height and spring preload are fully adjustable to allow the ideal setup for every combination of rider and machine. The TTX GP will be available for most major bikes used in national racing as well as new street bike models, with full settlings libraries available.
