With the growing interest in smaller capacity Supersport machines Öhlins have turned their hypersports experience to this exciting sector with new rear shocks to give these bikes the handling they deserve.
Seen as the future path for new motorcyclists and offering great styling with small capacity, Öhlins now offer riders of these ‘pocket rockets’ great handling performance to match their bigger race replica machinery. New shocks include applications for Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300 machines with other products, for example the Yamaha YZF-R25, to be launched soon.
The Öhlins STX46 shock utilises well proven monotube technology, perfect for these lightweight machines; giving high performance, quality and durability, all at a cost effective price. The shocks will feature either 36 or 46 mm pistons depending on application an internal gas reservoir within the main body of the shock. There are also a range of springs available. With adjustable damping and compression, you can easily change the characteristics of the shock for road and track use. The STX range of shocks can also be maintained and rebuilt by Öhlins Centres.
The shocks have been extensively tested by Öhlins R&D to develop settings that will improve the ride of the bikes as well as give a very noticeable performance step up. Easy to adjust with just a few clicks on the rebound to change from a perfect set-up for the road, to one for the track. The result is making these already fun bikes even more enjoyable, especially on twisty roads and smaller race tracks.
Robert Brinkmark, Öhlins Product Manager Motorcycles commented;
“This relatively new and fast growing sector is important for Öhlins as it gets riders on our products from a younger age, showing them the additional performance that is available in handling.
These new bikes ‘look the part’ and with the addition of one of our shock absorbers they will be able to handle in a similar way to their bigger brothers in the 600 and 1000cc hypersports sector.”
