One of the World’s most involving cars, the legendary Nissan GT-R (R35 type), just became even more exciting as Öhlins Distribution & Testcenter in Germany launch a bespoke ‘Advanced Trackday & Motorsport’ suspension system.
This high-end equipment is the culmination of almost 40 years of track experience, especially in GT classes, with the new TTX Dampers resembling the FIA GT3 racing car specification.
The Nissan GT-R in standard form is renowned as a stunningly fast car but the performance gains from the Öhlins TTX suspension boost its stability and precision handling to racetrack levels. Four way adjustability allows experienced drivers a wide range of damper settings to suit individual driving styles. With separate compression and rebound adjustment, separate adjustable length and spring preload, owners are able to reach an optimum set-up with ease.
The basis for this ‘coil-over’ suspension set is the popular and successful Öhlins twin-tube damper; the TTX (ILX36). The technical department at Öhlins Distribution & Test Center in Meuspath, Germany developed the set-up around their base on the world’s most demanding circuit; the Nordschleife. A rigorous test schedule on the famous track with lap record beating times has highlighted the unrivalled performance gains this suspension kit has to offer.
Utilising extremely lightweight aluminum components that result in a reduction of un-sprung mass, the kit comprises only the highest grade materials, whilst a high-quality coating ensures long durability in everyday use. The kits come with a 2 year warranty, plus the option to specify spring rates if the driver prefers a stiffer or softer setting. As with all Öhlins products, the dampers are fully serviceable, which means they will continue to provide consistent performance for as long as the owner maintains them according to Öhlins recommended service intervals.
Delivered direct from Öhlins Distribution & Test Centre in Germany, (a subsidiary of Öhlins Racing AB), it is suited for both road and track and can be registered using an individualised TÜV certificate per vehicle for use on public roads within Germany. Chris Witter, General Manager of Öhlins Distribution & Test Center in Germany commented,
“We’ve received many requests from serious track day customers for a high-end solution to suit the GT-R. That’s where our new advanced trackday and motorsport range comes in, based on our popular TTX range of dampers, we can offer a pure race-bred suspension kit that can also be used on the road. This kit is based on the same damper technology as used in GT3 racing and is aimed at those drivers with experience of racing and chassis set-up, since it has 4-way adjustability. We like to think of it as the ultimate suspension kit for the track day aficionado”.
