Öhlins® Adjustable Dampers Offer Superior Handling for New Carbon Fibre BAC Mono R Supercar

Upplands Väsby, Sweden, January 19, 2021  –
Less weight, more power and refined handling are just a few of the attributes of the new Mono R, BAC’s road-legal, single-seat supercar. Helping to deliver an exhilarating driving experience for owners of this highly exclusive vehicle – only 30 are produced – are Ӧhlins TTX36 adjustable shock absorbers. Ӧhlins Racing is a Tenneco business, and part of the company’s global aftermarket and OE ride performance group.

“A vehicle as fast, powerful and lightweight as the Mono R requires superior damping performance to ensure drivers can maintain control and enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride at any speed and in any conditions,” said Henrik Johansson, managing director, Ӧhlins Racing. “We’re proud that BAC determined Ӧhlins shock absorbers offer the best solution to meet this performance challenge.”

Body panels built  from lightweight graphene-enforced carbon fibre, the Mono R weighs in at just 1,248 lbs. (555 kg), but still produces 340 brake horsepower and reaches 60 mph (96 kmh) in 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 170 mph (273 kmh). To ensure this level of speed and power doesn’t come at the expense of control, the Mono R features a suspension geometry engineered for better traction and braking, incorporating two-way adjustable Ӧhlins TTX36 dampers, which carry an impressive history of race wins and series titles in FIA GT3, GT4 and World Touring Car Cup competition.

The BAC cars are the realization of two brothers’ vision of a road vehicle that offers the most authentic and pure driving experience possible while implementing the very latest racing technology.
