18 Riders to Compete for World Championship on Öhlins-Equipped Ducati V21L Electric Motorcycles
Upplands Väsby, Sweden, April 11, 2023: Nearing the start of its fifth season, the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup is now classified as a world championship. The series-specified motorcycle is now the Ducati V21L, the famed Italian builder’s first electric race bike. But one thing won’t change in 2023 – MotoE riders’ reliance on next-generation suspension technologies from Tenneco’s legendary Öhlins Racing business.
In each of the first four MotoE seasons, riders competed on Energica Ego Corsa race bikes equipped with Öhlins FGRT front and STX 46 rear suspension. Just as the MotoE class has embraced the promise of the innovative Ducati V21L, riders will benefit from highly race-refined suspension: Öhlins 25/30 pressurized, upside-down forks with 43 mm inner tubes at the front and fully adjustable Öhlins TTX36 shocks in the rear – each adapted from Öhlins technologies used with great success in MotoGP and Superbike World Championship competition. In addition, the new suspension is uniquely capable of handling the comparatively higher center of gravity and increased weight of these battery-driven motorcycles.

The V21L, positioned by its builder as the MotoGP of electric motorbikes, produces up to 110 kW of power (147 horsepower) and 140 Nm (103 lb⋅ft) of torque. Top speed is approximately 275 km/h. Ducati is building 23 units of the V21L, with 18 destined for the MotoE starting grid and five that will serve as backups.
Spanning 16 races across eight prestigious venues, the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship season kicks off May 13 with the Grand Prix of France at Le Mans.
